To this end, the Presidency decided to organise a global conference on ageing, the Silver Economy Forum. Held in Helsinki on 9–10 July 2019, the event attracted over 70 speakers and 600 high-level participants from 48 countries. What was different about the Forum, and what did it achieve? A demographic shift is creating the so-called “silver” economy and a new and powerful consumer class. Here, we look at how new products and services meet the needs and expectations of an older population, and where standards will help. After completing 22.547 km (about 14 miles) on a bike within one hour, New York, NY (July 8, 2019) – Tomorrow, the Global Coalition on Aging (GCOA), the global business voice on aging, and the Finnish Government will host the High-Level Forum on the Silver Economy, the first-ever conference focused on global business and government leadership to reimagine aging. On July 9, CEO Werner Baumann and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Devoy attended the first-ever Silver Economy Forum in Finland to discuss how Bayer is providing solutions for aging societies with a focus on digitalization. The forum called us all to provide innovative approaches and sustainable solutions.
