4 Mar 2020 Washington's economy gained 6,800 jobs in January and the state's seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate for January fell to 3.9 

Eight states had jobless rate decreases from a year earlier, one state had an increase, and 41 states and the District had little or no change. The national unemployment rate, 3.5 percent, was unchanged over the month but was 0.4 percentage point lower than in December 2018. The US unemployment rate rose to 3.7 percent in June 2019 from a 49-year low of 3.6 percent in the previous month and above market expectations of 3.6 percent. The number of unemployed increased by 87 thousand to 6.0 million while employment went up by 247 thousand to 157.0 million.
